It's been a while since I posted a cute picture of puppies. I found it on this website I found today: Cute Overload. I thought I was going to absolutely explode when I saw this site. I know I put off the whole "cool girl" attitude but this is where I melt to a blubbering girly girl mush blob of "Aaaawwwwsss" and "Oooooohhs".

Did you hear about the baby penguin in England that was stolen/lost? I was very surpised when I heard about it...this is why: About 2 weeks ago, before this happened, I was listening to NPR and they were talking about that "urban legend" about the retarded kid that steals a baby penguin from a zoo in England. They were talking about how this legend has been around since 1993 or so. I checked out Snopes and they have a lot of versions of the story.
The strangest thing about it though was this guy who was being interviewed from the zoo was very adamant about the fact that it had not happened and all the penguins in his zoo were safe and accounted for. And then this happens...just a few days later...poor penguin. I think they should be on the lookout for a retarded kid with a big backpack. Just a hunch.

Apocalypto is Mel Gibson's new movie about the end of the Mayan Empire. Interesting hm?
Now, for the funniest thing you've seen in a long time... First, watch this trailer for the movie (it looks pretty cool huh?). Then, go to the place in the video where the naked pregnant lady is standing in the room (about 2/3 of the way through) and start fast forwarding frame by frame....you won't even believe what you see. If you get to the screaming monkey you've gone too far. Go back and try again. Trust me, this is so worth it!

Well, this is interesting. No more complaining about how we don't know what our government is doing...a link to the voting record of every congress.
For example, just this morning the congress agreed that they want to encourage Saudi Arabia to improve their educational system (because, you know, ours is SOOOOO great). Also, we agreed to tell Egypt how their elections were done wrong and what they need to do better (again, because we've got that one down too). There was a bunch of budget stuff too, primarily giving more to our military, because they need it apparently.
So, get to it! Look what they are voting on! Get excited! Get upset! Make some noise about the "On Agreeing to the Conference Report Making Appropriations for the Department of Defense for the Fiscal Year Ending September 30, 2006, and for Other Purposes" bill!
Is it just me or is this stuff purposely made boring so that we normal humans fall asleep before we get a chance to know what's going on?

Matt finally announced the trip which means that I can finally talk about the the trip! I'm so excited I kinda don't know what to do with myself. I mean, I know what to do, I have lists...I have to pack, shop, research, plan and convince my grandma that Matt's not planning to dump me in the middle of a jungle somewhere. And if he does, I know how to get back.
I also have at least a dozen movies I have to see now or I know I'll never see: Brokeback Mountain, King Kong, Narnia, Memoirs of a Geisha, Munich, Syriana, wow...that's a lot. I guess there are a lot of good movies out this winter. That doesn't even count the DVD ones. By the way, don't bother watching The Island. Blah.
And I need to make some goals around the trip. I mean, seriously, I know this is not a normal thing and I want to make the absolute most of it. I know it's not just a vacation, it's a fork in the road. A frickin' major fork.
Oh...and I need to come to terms with the things I'll be missing while I'm gone. Luckily there are not many birthdays and no major holidays (except Rob's birthday, sorry Rob). I will be missing the Golden Globes though. And I think maybe the Oscars. But worst of all is the Olympics. I love the Olympics. Hopefully somewhere along the way I'll be able to catch some ice skating. I'm totally not kidding here.
Lastly, and most importantly, I have to spend time with the people I love. I'm going to miss everyone like crazy and want to get my fill before I go.
Yeah, I know I'm all over the place in this blog. I get scattered when I'm really excited and up to my ears in stuff to do. It's all good, I'll be fine. And really happy.
My favorite thing to do right now is tell people where Matt is. In case you don't know, he's in ANTARCTICA. Seriously.

woo-woo adj. concerned with emotions, mysticism, or spiritualism; other than rational or scientific; mysterious; new agey. Also n., a person who has mystical or new age beliefs.
This is the Dictionary definition of woo-woo (thanks Mark).
After finishing my last training in a series of seminars I bought 2 years ago it was time for me to look back and see what's really different. So, here goes...I'm happier, that's for sure. I'm braver (more brave?). I have more money. I have less debt. I have a better job. I like myself a lot more. I like my family a lot more. I have an awesome boyfriend. I like the people around me more. I'm more peaceful. I help people more. I'm more decisive. I think more. I'm more thankful. I drink less and smoke less. I eat better. I dress better. I do more interesting things with my time. I have bigger dreams. I trust more. I create more. I love more.
Not bad for only 2 years.

Matt and I spent a lovely weekend in Portland staying with my old friends Ryan and Toni. They are the best. Ryan and I have been friends since college and Toni is one of my favorite women on the planet. They are smart, funny, caring, creative, unique and entertaining. And I really don't see enough of them. Here is a list of things I love about Portland:

I listen to NPR every day as I'm getting ready for work. It's part of my morning ritual which never, ever changes and it's also my pathetic attempt to try to get smarter in my spare time. The down side is that I hardly ever remember any of the stories that I hear from my morning listening (unless Elaine reminds me).
However, today there was a GREAT story that analyzed Bush's recent speech at the US Naval Academy (the one where he says we're winning the war on terror). They really get into the facts, which is great for those of us who base our opinions on, y'know FACTS. Anyway, check it out here.
Also, this is a picture, from Wonkette, of the cadets waiting for the Bush speech.
